On 28 October 18 , Sunday. the members of Worth A While (WAW) visited the PIMS children's hospital and spent time connecting with the children, This event is a way for us to connect to the victims of cancer in a more personal way. We can interact with them and get to know them better. The day we decided that we're going to visit cancer patients everyone knew that we had to do our best to make the children smile and happy. A month before we starting preparing for the activity. We were able to gather a suitable amount of donations and so we begin our hunt for presents for the children there. Children LOVE stuffed toys that's why we bought stuffed teddy bears for every child in that ward. The nest thing we did was to find something that would help them spend their time at the hospital. SO, we got them coloring books, puzzles, and brain games. After the presents we got into the thought of getting them some healthy foods/fruits we consulted the doctors treating the children there and got them boiled eggs apples and bananas because cancer patients have a specific diet and we had to keep that in mind. Health before anything else. We printed some activity sheets and planned some games to play with them at the hospital. Also, we had to get a permission slip from PIMS inorder to carryout the activities which we did get. I was so happy to see the Cancer ward's condition at PIMS and to meet the nurses and doctors. They were so appreciating and co operating. The cleanliness level was really high in the children's ward overall which was so impressive. We decided to make everything colorful we made some really cute pom poms and wrapped the presents with colorful wrapping papers and ribbons. got some balloons that was just mandatory. We also printed out some really cute get well soon cards for all of the children there.

So, The activity day arrived and we reached PIMS at sharp 10:00 am. The children's activity room was assigned to us which was so nice and colorful. We begin to setup there and then at 11:00 am the children started to come in the room. These were the children with other diseases. The cancer patients were not allowed to leave their ward. So our team split up in two parts. One went to the children's activity room and the other team towards the cancer ward. After that we begin our day by distributing the coloring sheets and coloring pencils to the children. Even though the children were really tired but they loved their presents and started coloring. Meanwhile we gave handmade crowns to every child because every child is King/Queen by heart. The children took pom poms and balloons and absolutely loved them. On the other side, in the cancer ward everyone was introducing themselves and distributing presents. The stuffed teddy bears wrapped in colorful paper and ribbons gave them pure joy and the coloring books, puzzles made them happier. The children started coloring and telling us how much they hate staying at the hospital and want to go home. The children were sad because they couldn't go out to play because of chemo therapy and were so happy to play indoor games with us. After coloring and conversing we played a cup tower game and had a paper airplane race. It was just so heart warming to see them smile so bright!

Saying our goodbyes to theses little angles was really hard. They touched our heart and made us realize that we should be thankful for everything we have in our life. It was one of the best feelings to have the tangible knowledge that we are helping kids and putting smiles on their faces. We'll always pray for them to recover and have good health. We hope their life ahead bring happiness and success!
